Look up IMD 2025 ranks for postcodes
Use this tool to find the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD) 2025 rank for postcodes in England. Lower ranks indicate more deprivation – rank 1 is the most deprived area.
Limit by decile (optional)
You can limit results to a maximum decile. A decile splits all areas into ten equal groups:
- Decile 1 – most deprived 10%
- Decile 2 – most deprived 20%
- …
- Decile 10 – least deprived 10%
What is the IMD?
The IMD is the official measure of relative deprivation for small areas in England, called Lower-layer Super Output Areas (LSOAs). Every LSOA is ranked from 1 (most deprived) to 32,844 (least deprived).
The overall IMD score combines seven domains using the following weights:
- Income (22.5%)
- Employment (22.5%)
- Education, Skills and Training (13.5%)
- Health deprivation and Disability (13.5%)
- Crime (9.3%)
- Barriers to Housing and Services (9.3%)
- Living Environment (9.3%)
